Dear Iodiners,
Sorry if this is off-topic but I highly trust people in this forum more than others. There's a lot of users giving missinformation.
I started taking antibiotics 4 days ago. Clyndamicine 300mg every 8 hours. That's because I had a very big dental abcess over a teeth (root-canaled 10 years ago, oh, what a surprise). The abcess was there silent for at least 3 years. I know this because my body created a dental phistula to drain the infection drudge, and the phistula takes around 2-3 years to develop, according to my dentist.
Wednesday the dentist extracted the whole dead teeth and I hope cleaned a little bit the infection. Got two stitches. She's not holistic anyway so of course she would never assume root-canals are bad. But that's another story.
THE THING IS : I feel f***ing amazing. It started after the first two doses of the antibiotic and it's getting better. It is like a "black veil" has lifted from me. Specially the mood. I'm happy 24 hours a day. Today I woke up and played music and danced before going to work. I don't really understand what's going on.
So please could you tell me your guesses of what's going on ? Possible hypothesis :
- The well known damage the root-canal teeth do.
- I had candidas or SIBO or H.Pylori or whatever thing in my stomach/gut and the antibiotic has killed (or is killing) it.
- I had some unknown pathogen lurking somewhere that has been killed by the antibiotic.
- PLACEBO effect
The antibiotic course is 8 days, I've done 5 so far. I'm 0 knowledgeable of antibiotics/gut/stomach/parasites/candida/bacteria stuff so any comments would be very welcome. Comments, suggestions, hypothesis, everything.
Sorry again for the off-topic.
It can easily be, since there's logic to each part of the puzzle- especially with inflammation directly from the root canal/fistula having been in your bloodstream.
However, it depends upon how broad-spectrum the antibiotics are- if it's aimed at -all- types of infectious agents, it's going to make an easier playing field for reinfection in your gut and inflammation of the internal organs later.
I would say right now it is important to clear the dental infection and complete the course of antibiotics, and then heal the gum and gut.
There are many pieces of the puzzle. Was it a root canal that began with an external cavity, or an infection that started from the bloodstream? Could the infection have started to begin with because of a leaky gut and toxic habits/exposures?
Those are parts of the puzzle you'll need to explore yourself-
But iodine is a good place to start researching, as it's one of those front-line defenders against infection across all epithelial barriers (gut, Blood-brain barrier, skin, gums, stomach, sexual organs, etc. )
Your gut flora is the basis for all your b-vitamins, fat-soluable vitamins, mineral absorbtion, etc.
Antibiotics are.. a mixed bag of tricks!
However, at the moment I am glad you are seeing some relief. Use this time of a clear head to learn well, and make some simple plans for yourself. :)
To prevent reinfection via the gut after your antibiotic round, it'll be important to keep your stomach acid high (http://tennantinstitute.us/conditions/stomach-acid.html) Guide and simple-language instructions
And to repopulate your gut. Raw and fermented foods are a perfect way to get going on that. :-) Probiotics are not nearly as effective (from my experience).
Your liver will need help after the ibprofuen and with shunting out the toxins left over after the antibiotic circus too (since there'll be a lot of dead material to clean out). Some time in a sauna and in sea salt soaks (also rich in iodine) with some epsom salts/dead sea salts (high in magnesium) can help replenish your magnesium reserves, and sauna/sweating will help take out the trash so your liver doesn't have to. ;)
Here's the how and why of antibiotics being an issue:
