If you have a substantial heavy metal problem, beware of kicking up HMs randomly. There have been way too many reports of unpleasant reactions. Some people are sensitive to kicking up HMs.
It is easy to think that cilantro and chlorella have been consumed by humans for centuries or longer. However today, unlike centuries ago, people have grams of mercury in their silver-mercury dental fillings. We get injected with mercury in the flu and some other vaccines--even the ones given to pregnant women! Literally tons of mercury are sent into the air from coal and other smoke stacks.
So we have to be more careful and methodical about kicking up HMs.
These are two examples I've come across in the detox groups. I've become friendly with the first young man and have followed his progress over the years. It has been encouraging but slower than he had hoped.

When I was trying to decide which detox method to use for my lead toxicity problem I wanted the safest effective method. I had a decent job, a relationship, but had to detox to protect my future. I had a strange bone density problem in my 40s and a fairly typical list of other HM symptoms.
My doctor recommended IV or high, infrequent dose DMSA. I chose Cutler's protocol due to the emphasis on safety. He explains the basics, including some of the controversial aspects of detox in this audio interview. Notice his insistence on taking other antioxidants--vitamin C, E, etc--when kicking up HMs. You'll have to right click the link at this site and download the mp3.

My bone density normalized, so did my previously low kidney numbers. A list of lesser symptoms improved or were resolved. A few symptoms remain--mild
Arthritis that is well managed with glucosamine sulfate, modest inattentive ADD that is reasonably well managed with a combo of supplements and a tiny dose of medication. I take some other supplements to improve memory, thyroid and adrenal/sex hormones, energy, etc, but those are not for medical problems, just for life enrichment.
Do your homework before kicking up HMs. Detox can be wonderful for those who need it and do it safely.
