I think so, look up Epigenetics. Are you following Dr. Morse by chance? He's a cool dude but don't think I benefitted from his advice at all.

Some of his herbs have kelp, and it has iodine. I took lots of his herbs, ate only fruit, etc. Not buying his genetic weakness arguements any more. Was painfully obvious that I was more informed than his health coach he had me talk to, she was nice though.
He says to stop exercising, this was bad for me. My liver became extremely soar and swollen on the herbs, he said don't do coffee enemas or liver flush, or colonics, bad idea, these things saved me. He's very entertaining, that's all, not good advice, IMHO.
He breaks everything down into acids/alkaline. Body is not so simple. Colon must be alkaline, stomach must be acid. Alkaline can burn too like acid. He does not understand parasites AT ALL.

Also, I had a huge dark spot on my right Iris over the liver area since the age of 19 (or earlier) and it is barely visible now after 12 liver flushes. My whole digestion has improved dramtically, I'm not out of the woods though, still flushing onwards. Liver flushing is for everyone, like bathing, IMHO.
