hi all,
i'm a 22 year old female and today i had a colonoscopy because i have been having blood in my stools as well as abdominal pain where my upper colon/liver is located. the doctor said i had several hemorroids and one polyp. he said both the polyp and the hemorroids are not that big of a deal, but given my health history this past year, i want to know WHY i have these things when my entire life i have been a healthy and athletic individual.
here's some history that might help:
i was DX with hashimoto's thyroiditis (hypothyroid) in august 2014.
have been diagnosed and treated 3 times with lymes disease. the most recent time was in july 2014. i took
Antibiotics but suspect that my lingering symptoms are indicative of chronic lymes.
i havent' menstruated since june 2014 and am in the process of trying to figure out why.
waiting to hear back if i have adrenal fatigue.
have not yet done a stool test because the chiro i work with says its 502$ and i cant afford that. i have pretty much gotten rid of most of my ibs symptoms, except that i have undigested food in my stool and i get lots of abdominal rumbling/ "popping" feelings like gas is stirry up in my abdomen after i eat.
ive been told i have leaky gut.also, blood tests showed that i had high liver enzymes.
my questions are:
what are some reasons that someone would get polyps other than the conventional reasons?
can hypothyroidism cause this?
i have been eating a paleo autoimmune diet (paleo plus no eggs, nuts, seeds, and nightshade vegetables) for about 6 months and the blood in my stools started about 4 months ago. my diet consists of mostly vegetables, chicken, fish, fruit, and fats come from olive oil and coconut oil. i dont drink or smoke at all.
any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
