I already asked one of you all but if anyone here knows the Metametrix/(now)Genova GI Effects Test.
I am hypothyroid with GI pain most all of last year with hair loss for the last 3 months. And lately I've had really bad foot and leg cramps. I've suspected Candida for two years cause I crave
Sugar and carbs and when I eat anti-fungal foods I get a flare of a rash that I've had for 4 years.
-- Where do you all think I can find out about my GI Effects test results - The Doctor I ordered with is new to Genova testing and he only mentioned that I try supplementing with Butyrate and did not address any other of the High Low readings. Other that that one tip he did not share what the following means to me:
Under Digestion and Absorption
LOW Triglycerides
----------------------------------
Under the Gastrointestinal Microbiome
LOW Short Chain Fatty acids...,
LOW n-Bulyrate Concentration
HIGH n-Butyrate%, LOW Acetate% and HIGH Propionate%
and Beta-glucuronidase in the (yellow almost high)zone
------------------------------------
Under Commensal Bacteria (PCR)
HIGH Bacteroides vulgatus
Under Firmicutes Phylum
HIGH Clostridium ssp
HIGH Faecalibacterium prausnitzil
HIGH Pseudoflavonifractor spp
--------------------------------------
I was looking for a result on Candida and was told by Genova that would have been covered by the Mycology (Culture) on the GI Effects. But in that section on my results page it only shows Rhodolorula species in a green normal non-Pathogen 1+NP range.
I was directed to ANALYTE LIST on the GI Effects test description page on the Genova site.

So am I to assume that means Candida is not an issue for me???
--------------------------------
I know they would train my Doctor on how to answer me but not sure he will take the time and thought I'd see what I could find out myself.
---------------------------------
I've ordered and lightly researched Butyrate am starting to take BodyBio Calcium Magnesium Butyrate - if you know anything about that please let me know and if you know what any of my results might mean or where I can research my results myself please let me know.
Thank you.
