Monday Day 31 started out like most recently. Wake up, drink a little water, vomit, and general feeling badly. I called my work we agreed to greatly limit what work I did until the fast was over. I sat in a easy chair for a couple hours and did email and other catch up work. I felt a little better and drank a good amount of water many 16
oz with out feeling sick. I took a good nap and woke to get ready of my first doctor's appointment since I started the fast. I didn't feel great, but didn't get sick. The feeling in my stomach was different with several burps.
My wife and I went to the doctor and by the time we arrived I was feeling the best level of energy in two weeks or more.
My doctor is one of those complimentary care types that tries to bring together both traditional and natural practices. She encourages fasting to a point, but when she found out I was on day 31 she let me know that I was entering a danger zone and must stop as the excessive throwing up was a clear sign of electrolyte imbalance and could damage my heart and other internal organs. I sensed a bit of CYA (cover your ass) on her part and let her know I wasn't going to make an immediate response.
She then took me into re-feeding and wants me to take B1 for brain function. She also explained re-feeding is a time when the electrolytes can get more imbalanced. I then went to the lab and gave blood to check my electrolytes and other things.
We drove home after and I had a small group prayer meeting to attend. After this long of being up I still felt good energy, I barely rested and went. I didn't tell them much and as we listened and prayed together it became clear it was time to end the fast. So I have poured a glass of water and mixed in a little coconut water and maybe 1/3 organic apple juice and dissolved a B1 into it. I have had a couple sips and am excited that everything is coming together.
Energy returns, slight hunger, no revulsion at food, doctor's orders, agreeing wife, and spiritual direction.
Thank you all who responded it was the support I needed to pull me through the final days. Especially Desert Lili! I can't thank you enough for your wisdom, knowledge, experience and timely help.
