Hello Grizz,
So, here we are 7 years later. May I ask if l-citrulline and l-arginine are still working for you?
I know you wrote that you were going to reduce dependency on supplements, and try to get the nutrients from food.
Anyway, for what it's worth, I bought some of the above months ago, but never got around to using them. For one reason or another (partly because of coming back to read CZ) I decided to start taking them in earnest, and have been doing so for a few days - still too early to expect results of course.
I'd also bought Borax even longer ago, but was a bit put off by the complicated dosing instructions, but have now started taking that as well (I think I understand the dosing now. I don't follow any of the exact instructions, but use a gram scale to get the exact Borax dose I want, and mathematics (well, arithmetic) to convert that to the boron dose I want.
I also take
Iodine (Lugols), and have been doing for some time, although not consistently.
I have ED, but I also have an enlarged prostate. (Not been tested officially - I don't do doctors or prescription medication - but I think the symptoms are fairly clear, and it's not surprising at my age (72)).
Other than being overweight, I would say that I'm lucky enough to be pretty healthy, apart from this damn prostate (assuming it is what I think).
Now, some of the "remedies" for enlarged prostate that are advertised seem to be based on pomegranate, and I think are supposed to work by enhancing NO production, a la arginine & citrulline.
I listened to one long (and quite interesting) ad for one of these on Youtube one day. Among other things it seemed to be suggesting that one of the effects of enlarged prostate was ED. It was certainly suggesting a link of some sort.
May I ask if you have come across stories of people with both ED and enlarged prostate, and did perhaps NO treatment help both the ED _and_ the enlarged prostate?
I bought a cheaper one of those pomegranate-based products, and I think it did help my urination-type issues (prostate related), but not the ED.
Now, part of the advert for the expensive prostate product talked about the ultimate cause of enlarged prostate being excess estrogen, and I think this in turn was caused by ... damn I keep forgetting the name, but it's stress related. Maybe it will come back before I finish typing. I also may be incorrectly remembering. OK, it's come back: cortisol, of course.
Anyway, if that's the case, it seems to me unlikely that NO treatment by itself, would resolve enlarged prostate, unless of course, NO somehow also manages to control excess estrogen.
I seem to remember that trapper cured his prostate issues with
Iodine alone, but I need to go back and find the relavant part of the forum to check that out.
I realise my posting has been very rambling, and this is a reflection that my mind on this subject is a bit confused from having got ideas about these topics from all over the place.
I've just remembered another interesting (to me, anyway) snippet: there is a chiropractor called I think, Adam Story, who does a lot of Youtube videos. A lot of these promote beetroot for reducing blood pressure, and the mechanism is that they are full of
nitrates /
nitrites and cause the body to produce more NO.
Interestingly, he does _not_ claim any benefit for ED.
(or enlarged prostate, if it comes to that).
Now, I love beetroot, and I started eating it for a test, and I suspect it did reduce my BP, but it did nothing for my ED or prostate-related issues. (Fair enough - he never claimed it would). I just throw that in as another data point.
Well, if you know of any people / stories of people who have managed to resolve both ED and enlarged prostate issues, that would be very interesting to hear, and of course, if anyone else with the relevant experience would like to chip in, please do.
Also, if you or anyone else would like to throw any more light on the link between excess estrogen and enlarged prostate, that would be helpful. Thank you.
