I know I'm very late on the subject of those who became ill on Lam's lipo-supplements (this is my first time considering the newer products he sells, thus my first time label reading), but wondering if anyone noticed the presence of alpha lipoic acid in the supplements he sells?
Alpha lipoic acid lowers thyroid levels. A lot of people on here already suffer from hypothyroidism. One of his products has alpha lipoic acid and l-carnitine and if I remember right, l-carnitine also lowers thyroid levels. That might be quite a punch to an already struggling thyroid.
Just wondering if that could be the reason some have done poorly on his program and if substituting another brand might resolve the issue.
edit: One more thing, some companies use stevia for sweetners or vanilla for flavoring. Lam uses stevia in several products.
Stevia lowers my cortisol and i have to supplement hydrocortisone if I take it.
I'm not saying I have
Science to back it up but I get the same symptoms of low cortisol and it's relieved by hydrocortisone. Maybe I just have a paradoxical reaction.
I can't find where I read that it did lower coritsol but that was years ago. I did find a contradictory study that says it raised cortisol but lowered aldosterone as well as potassium. Some of us have issues with aldosterone and low potassium, this may be what is the actual problem.
My best friend and some of my family also suffer adrenal fatigue(low type) and feel much worse when ingesting Stevia.
As for the vanilla I mentioned. I don't think Lam uses it but I did find it in my NB TEI supplement which was the enzymes. It lowered my cortisol and made me feel horrible.
Perhaps if you do fine on his products, all you may have to do is have your doctor watch your thyroid levels and adjusts accordingly for the product that contains l carnitine or alpha lipoic acid.
