I'm at my wits end...been to 3 doctors and no one knows what is wrong. I am a 52 year old female, menopausal (9 mos no cycle) and diagnosed with genital Lichen Sclerosus earlier this year.
In late July, I woke up with a swollen dry lip that would burn and sometimes feels numb (it's not badly swollen, just enough that I sometimes hit it with my top teeth when I talk or eat). 2 weeks later, every time I would put on my daily moisturizer, my face would sting for a while then subside.
August: face skill starts to burn all over. Heartburn starts. A hot sensation from the stomach up to the throat that makes my tongue burn. Saw my MD, she could not figure it out but said my throat was red. Not sure why my face was burning. She did blood work:
ANA: Negative
RF: Negative
SED: Normal
CRP: Normal
B12: Normal
Iron: Normal
Glucose: Normal
A1C: Not sure of the number right now but it was normal range
Ferritin: Normal
TSH: 2.61 (normal lab range)
CBC: all normal range.
Dr. says it's anxiety. Gives me buspar and sends me on my way. Buspar doesn't work.
September: Now I have all the above PLUS; skin is burning all over body. No redness, just a sensation of burning.
Now have high pitch in ears like ciccadas or high pitch electronic sound (like the old says when you would walk by a house and could "hear" the eletronic noise from the TV inside).
October. All the above and now my eyes feel weird. Feels like heat is coming off my face and irritates them. Saw a dermatologist who thought Rosacea but my face doesn't turn red. I do have broken capillaries but nothing that would cause so much burning. Feels like my face is sunburned. Metrogel made it worse. Saw a neurologist who did a neuro exam and brain MRI. No signs of MS and scan looks normal, so is exam. Says Anxiety and suggests I use an SSRI which my MD then switched me from Buspar to Zoloft. Still burning. Back to the derm who says it could be an allergy and suggests allegra daily for 2 weeks to see what happens.
I also have bumps on my scalp..they are filled with white but don't itch. They cause my scalp to feel sore. I also notice I am not sweating like I used to. I've had them for over a year now.
I would accept the Rosacea but how does that cause the whole body to have the same burning? Also, I have not found anything that says Rosacea inclues the lips. The facial capillaries do make me wonder though. They are at my nostril opening and along the sides of my nose even though it's my whole face that burns. My pores are enlarged in those areas plus chin and forehead but to be honest, I have had that all my life.
Could all these symptoms be from possible Candida? What about the sound in my ears?
Thanks for any insight!
