Bergen, when I broke my 40 day fast in May, I was told by my chiropractor to do broth, vegetable broth. Well...I felt like MUD with it, after all those days of raw lemon, my body felt HORRIBLE. So I did the fresh orange, BUT..I diluted it very strongly at first with water. It felt AMAZING, but I didn't have ANY of the yuck hypoglycemic body reactions I have sometimes while I'm eating solid food. I gradually went up to stronger and stronger on the orange throughout that day and the next. And then I got into other juices, that I made, vegetable juices. I used asparagus and beet and carrot, carrot, beet and tons of different types of greens, lettuce and sprouts. Those worked really well. You ARE going to be able to ease slowly into the full orange juice after a day or so. If you're concerned, try cutting it with some lettuce or sprouts in the juice.
On thing that I find with raw fruits is that they really don't affect my hypoglycemic reactions noticably at all, and, especially after the fast, I would think they would. I suppose if you drink too much at a time, it might, but at first, all I could do was a swallow or two at a time, kind of like I sip the
Master-Cleanse all day.
I would NOT recommend cooked anything to break a fast. It really hit my body hard, even just broth and felt like mud- dead.
