anything can cause gas so its kinda of confusing. I usually go off how i feel when i introduce a gassy food/substance. if i feel bad then typically its been fermented by bacteria or candida. But most sugars are fermented anyway in the colon hours after consuming. fiber cause gas, vegatables, and dairy if you dont have the proper bacteria to digest. in your case i believe you have dysbiosis so there are many things that can be fermenting that laxative.
