Velvetz: I would avoid calcium ascorbate if I were you. Ascorbic acid has studies showing again and again that it reduces the incidence of kidney stones. I suspect you would also be safe with sodium ascorbate, which you can either purchase [expensive], or make yourself by mixing in water one part of sodium bicarbonate with two to three parts of ascorbic acid [and wait until the fizzing/bubbling stops].
