Refreshed: It took me a while to get through these....but these are very well done. The one at the bottom, would have been good too if he had stopped between each video and commented like this other guy did. By showing video after video, I feel he was just reenforcing the message deeper into people's minds, that believe this way. He needed to stop and snap people back into reality with the truth of scripture.
Me: I totally agree and I hesitated to put the last video up because of that. But there was footage in the last one that wasn't in the other one that I thought would be good for everyone to see. Like for example, when that one man, can't think of his name now, said no one wants to hear about the cross, and that the good news is not Jesus. Even the crowd seemed taken back by that. But I agree, the first one was much clearer and more informative of what the truth is.
Refreshed: I think about people clicking through the channels daily and pausing to hear the messages these people are speaking. Very few of them, have I ever heard them say things like this. And I guess that's how satan gets you hooked on listening. You find nothing wrong in what little you hear. You click on it a little tomorrow and just a little as you are passing on to another channel...and a small amount more is heard. After a while you come to think their teachings are ok. But the truth is...we have not heard ALL their teachings and many people have nothing to compare it to if they don't read their bible and/or have the extra help of a church home to study with. That is where accountability really helps. Thanks vektek for finding these videos. It truly was an eye opener.
Me: Yes, that is exactly what happens. I have sat through a Joyce Meyer or Joel Osteen message before, and not found anything horribly wrong, and maybe even learned something. Joel Osteen sounds so nice. But there is poison in their messages and people swallow that down with the rest of the sweet sounding messages not realizing what is happening. Some of these other people, they just sound evil to me altogether, like Gloria Copeland. How do people listen to her at all I don't know, or Kenneth Copeland too? I think it was good that Kenneth Copeland said that statement about God being the biggest failure ever because hopefully that woke a lot of people up to the evil of this man. But you hear the crowd laughing at that statement, the followers of him that think he can say nothing wrong.
Refreshed: I had never understood that the faith movement believed that Faith was a "substance". I always knew it as "assurance"...even though I have read it in some bibles as substance. And worse...I never heard that they believed that God had to have faith. Geepers! That totally destroys the meaning of faith. I do believe in having faith in Jesus Christ...and having great faith/assurance that all He will do is for our betterment. Even if our lives sometimes don't always go perfectly. God knows what we need and what we need to learn through Him.
Me: I learned a lot I didn't know either. I had no idea that they taught that Adam was basically God. That is just insane! And yes, they have totally butchered what faith means and if you totally butcher what faith means, you have totally butchered the gospel, but that is just one of the many ways they have butchered the gospel.
Refreshed: I do believe in thinking/speaking positive things over negative. However, I don't believe God is a Geni in a bottle that gives you everything you want.
Me: I do too. But what they are saying goes way beyond that. The bible says to think on good things.
Phil. 4:8 "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things."
And we are to think and speak about the promises of God in the midst of trials and at all times. But this is not what they are talking about. They are talking about creating, controlling, basically playing God with the power of their words. That part about Gloria Copeland saying she can control the weather. How can people believe a word that woman says after that?
Refreshed: Wow...that is all I can say. I repent of anything that I may have picked up from some of these people...even though, I would say, they do sometimes have good things to say...but if you get sucked into the good, the bad they teach may stick. If anyone has "faith/assurance" in these people and look at them as some kind of infallible gods....we are in serious trouble. We should only have assurance through God and not man.
Me: Well we know people absolutely do put their faith in these people and believe every word they say and some people end up living on the streets by giving everything they have to these people hoping God will bless them because of it, or they have worse things happen. Look at the huge crowds in those clips and that is nothing compared to the millions that watch these faith teachers on TV everyday. I think part of what makes Justin Peter's teaching so good is that he has been to many of the shows, like with Benny Hinn and others and so he has seen so much with his own eyes that has made him so passionate about this. Also, he started out going to these "faith healers" himself hoping for his own miracle, and then eventually realized the truth about it all. He showed up at one of Todd Bentley's meetings recently. Watch this clip. It's not real clear and you can't hear all of it real good, but he tells Todd Bentley the truth.
Refreshed: I'm still not sure I understand what the bottom video was saying about people believing they are spirit. I realize that he was saying it leads to people believing they are gods, but did I miss something? I'm not getting the full message. I have always believed that God breathed into us and we became a living soul. When we believe in Jesus we receive the Holy Spirit. That is when we have salvation and God working through us and helping us.
Me: It was confusing but from what I got out of it, what they are teaching is totally different from believers receiving the Holy Spirit. They are teaching that we are little gods, that there is really no difference in God and us and that we can create, and do anything else God does because now that we have become believers, our deity has been restored, and we are like Adam originally was, just like God. It's just like the lie of Satan, enticing Eve with the idea of being just like God.
Refreshed: Jesus return quickly. I don't think I can bear hearing much more of this.
Me: I second that!!!
