Culterelle is about the best known that I know of. 10 billion per capsule the latest are meant to have. I am sure it was 5 billion when I used them a long time back. I was not impressed by them, they did not help me at all.
They can be made into a yoghurt, which is what I did to cut costs. I made a small 6 floz pot of yoghurt from a capsule and made a pot from a previous batch using 1/2 pot to make 7 pots of yoghurt which took about 3.5 hours to make a fairly well set yoghurt. The capsule took over 12 hours to make a set yoghurt. Therefore do not believe the bullshit that probiotic makers claim about probiotics being stronger than pots of yoghurt. Sore purchased yoghurt maybe but self made yoghurt absolutely not!
I have confirmed this on many occasions using different probiotic capsules and using a starter from a previous batch has always been much faster ie having considerably more CFU than a probiotic capsule.
One advantage of culturelle is that they are only Lactobacillus Rhamnosus so are perfect for making into a yoghurt if you only want that bacteria.
