Hello! I am currently looking for a fasting buddy to motivational support during my 21 day fast. Here's a little background on myself - I'm a college student majoring in chemistry and physics with expectations of either going to medical school or grad school. For years, I have had a fascination with the physical and psychological effects of intermediate and prolonged water fasting. I spent hours upon hours looking at information from forums and websites about water fasting in high school, and was able to conduct a little bit of my own research when I got to college. All in all, I'm ready to undertake my first extended fast. I'm fasting for varies health and mental reasons. I am using this fast to help kick off a new lifestyle change I plan on making once the fast ends, and to kick start my weight loss journey that will also be undertaken once that fast ends. Typically, fasting isn't the ideal way I would have tried to lose weight, but it seems to be my only choice considering where my weight gain stems from. I have had a binge eating disorder for a long time. It first manifested itself when I was about 8 years old, became a binge/purge disorder around the age of 15, and this past year of my life at age 19 is when it reached its severity. I also suffer from bipolar II disorder and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). The combination of all three has made my life a living hell. Medications have helped a little, but I'm in search of something more long term. Although I am prepared for having to deal with the bipolar II for the rest of my life, I absolutely believe that the other two could be greatly improved by undertaking this fast.
