Hello, I have been inspired & educated reading posts on this forum while on my juice fast journey.
Today is Day 24 today. I didn't start with a pre-set length. A few years ago I did
The Master Cleanse several times, so fasting is not completely new to me. I started because I was having awful fatigue, hypoglycemia symptoms, and pre-menstrual syndrome symptoms, which the endocrinologist could give me no explanation for after numerous lab tests including the 3 hour glucose test and 24 hour urine collection. Apparently, I was healthy. But I was overweight and felt awful. So, I figured my body was toxic from past diet "sins." Although I have been a vegetarian for 15 years, I never wholly eliminated junk foods like potato chips, pizza, french fries, heavy pastas, cheeses, etc. I have tried going raw on numerous occasions, but within a few days I went back to the bad carbs because the sudden surge of energy resulted in an inability to focus and concentrate or sleep. This time, I decided to try a juice fast first and see if that helps me make it on to the raw food diet.
So, I started
juicing cucumbers, watermelon, greens, lemons, etc. For the majority of the first three weeks it went really awesome. I felt very energetic, but not uncontrollably so. I had some minor symptoms, but nothing that didn't resolve within 20 minutes, except the white tongue thing. The worst of it was following the advice to do the salt water flushes or the smooth move teas, which left me on toilet for hours. I did that a few times because the advice I read said if you don't regularly move toxins can accumulate in bowels.
Anyhow, a few days ago I started losing interest in drinking the juice. I really tried to vary it, so it wasn't boredom. I had two maybe one juice a day. I didn't want to force myself to drink it, so then I just drank water instead. Water with lemon too. I thought maybe my body was telling me it wanted to be on a just
Water Fast instead. After a couple of days, serious nausea kicked in, I felt very weak (staying in bed most of day, but then not able to sleep at night entirely & tired the whole time). I threw up once, bile since stomach was empty. I was also highly irritable and extremely emotional. Then my lovely period arrived and more weakness. So, I suppose I can chalk it up to being the effects of my menstrual period, which I had issues with before the juice fast. I have tried warm baths, lemon ginger tea with probiotics, raw ginger tea with lemon, and it helps a little, but not that much.
I am considering ending the fast, but I'm not sure how to. I don't feel like eating or drinking juice. I did make myself drink a green juice earlier, over the nausea. Didn't help much.
I would like my energy back. After I had made it past two weeks I thought maybe 28 days would be good since a lot of people do it for that long for health help and it is the moon cycle length too.
Any sound advice and/or insights would be appreciated. Thank you.
