Okay, so my sister, who about eight months ago found out she has hepatitis C, has been off and on living here. We have known for a bout a year that she is an IV drug user, and that some of her acquaintances do have hepatitis. The problem is that she is not very hygienically clean. For example she leaves globs of spit and toothpaste in the sink, doesn't flush the toilet, doesn't wash her hands, etc. when she was a little kid, we would find moldy food in her room. And she is almost 30 years old, and has two children that have both been taken away. The newborn is in foster care, and the four-year-old lives with us (immediate family). The problem is that while she is here she will kiss her daughter on the lips, share food with her, things of that nature.. that I think is risky behavior. I know they say that the virus isn't really transferable via saliva but that's not a risk I think I will take. Not to mention, she shoots up in the bathroom, so there is always blood splatter on the walls and on the floor, so God forbid if someone had a cut on their foot… and she is one of those people who will open a container in the fridge, take one or two bites, Double dip, and put it away for the next person to eat. It's almost like she does not respect the fact that she has a potentially lethal virus that is rather contagious. Two days ago I went down to the health department to get tested. I find out in three weeks. My question to you is, and my being paranoid?... overly?? And has anyone ever heard of roommates or people living in the house inadvertently becoming infected? Or does anyone know anyone with hepatitis C who claims to have never used needles or have a blood transfusion ?? Help!!! The next three weeks will be so nerve-racking !!
BY THE WAY MY SISTER IS A LONG-TERM INPATIENT REHAB NOW, BUT THIS PAST BEHAVIOR IS WHAT HAS ME WORRIED :/
