I have made significant improvement in the last 3 months using only changes in my diet and following Ayurveda. I have really been using Ayurveda for the past 2 years but for a lot of that time I was making mistakes and probably making things a lot worse. One thing I am certain of at this point is that the concepts of Ayurveda absolutely have a significant impact on the body. Even the fact that eating certain foods and taking certain herbs can make things worse if you are mis-diagnosed, to me proves that there is a very real and significant impact to Ayurveda. Now that I have (hopefully) corrected the mistakes I made, I hope to see how far I can go with Ayurveda.
Ayurveda is a very personalized method, so it is really irrelevant to anyone else what diet I am following but just in case you are curious, my diet is plenty of fresh fruit, especially apples, pears, pomegranate, raisins, prunes, plenty of all types of vegetables, especially those with a bitter flavor, most of my calories come from raw milk, ghee, butter, quinoa, white basmati rice, mung dal, some other grains and beans. I eat some meat but it is not a huge part of my diet and I don't feel it has any healing effect on me currently; just eat it sometimes just in case my body needs it. I also take the herbs guduchi, amla, and kutki and eat certain specific foods in good quantity.
Definitely feeling some improvements in energy and mood. More noticeable improvements in mood. 3 months ago from today it is hard to imagine the immense mental suffering and anguish that I was in, to me this is even worse than the physical problems like never having any energy. My mood is the best it has been in a long time, so that is the most encouraging thing. Energy levels have also improved but that is a bit more slow going, still have a lot of days where I just have to sleep most of the day but I notice that while I still sleep a lot and am tired a lot, during the time that I am awake I am a bit less sluggish and there are some days on and off that I am really starting to feel pretty good. Am able to do yoga and walk more, and am starting to meditate a little bit (just impossible in my previous state of mind).
I always feel better this time of year (as probably many of you do, hopefully) so the real test will be to track my progress throughout the summer (last July was sheer hell) and into the fall and next winter.
