I recently communicated with a woman who had an adverse reaction to an ingredient in a natural health product and it brought the subject of diluted black seed oils to mind once again, as this product she purchased from India, contained undisclosed ingredients….
Why do companies that sell black seed or essential oils add fillers and carrier oils to their products? Profit…Period. There is no other rhyme or reason. And just as all olive or essential oils are NOT created equal, and there are varying degrees of quality and purity, the same can be said for black seed oil. And I don’t care who you are, there is no way you can compare an “adulterated” or diluted black seed oil, which has been watered down and cheapened with the likes of vegetable oils, with its 100% pure counterparts. Essential oils are no different. There’s a reason why some brands are super CHEAP, and if you read the ingredients of the less expensive, they will usually contain the pure oil mixed with the likes of olive. Then the deceptive labeling with phrases like, “All Natural” and “Made with quality ingredients” makes us believe the diluted oil is on par with the pure. It’s not! All of the ingredients may be all natural, but
additives are
additives and weaken the strength of a pure oil, whether they’re natural or not, and the final product of a pure oil that has been adulterated is one that is cheaper in quality and integrity. I always recommend buying pure essential oils, as you can and probably will dilute or “cut” them with other natural ingredients yourself, so why would my standards for black seed oil be any different?
Another negative of oil impurity, especially in the case where the
additives are NOT listed on the ingredient label, a very dangerous and unsavory business practice in and of itself, is the risk of allergic reaction, skin irritation, and other harmful side effects. Not labeling additivess like sesame or mustard oils is a potential health hazard for those with allergies to these substances, which is why I also advise caution when buying products from certain countries whose labeling standards are unregulated. It is at the least unethical and dishonest to sell an adulterated oil under the pretense that it is a pure and natural. And many of us have witnessed the unscrupulous tactics and lengths that sellers of these inferior oils will go to protect their profits.
These oils are cheap in more ways than one. So, as the buying and selling of diluted black seed oils continues, unfortunately, I advise caution. Stretching oils by adding cheaper ones to make them more profitable is nothing new, but please know they are inferior and CHEAP, not only in price but in quality. And if customers are being told otherwise, they are being lied to, which is why the bottles are deceptively labeled. No logical person would buy any diluted natural health product when there are pure, unadulterated products, free of additives and solvents, and the same standard should be used when purchasing your black seed and black seed oils.
