I decided to start taking St. John's Wort and 5-HTP to help with depression... but it's been about 5 weeks now, and no improvement.
If anything, I've been feeling worse the last few weeks.
I increase my dose of ALA slightly, from 20mg to 25mg. Only minor side effects increase, or so I thought... but now, while the occasional mild headache isn't bad, I'm getting all sorts of unpleasant problems.
I'm depressed. I'm tired a lot, going to bed over an hour earlier than I normally do. I don't enjoy things and am not able to find interest in the things I'm normally interested in. I don't have much of an attention span, and I can't read long things or complicated things. I have no desire to do much of anything.
I'd been chelating for like 2 years, and THIS is what I get? Even though I made undeniable progress at first (no more recurrent cellulitis, for instance), I feel like I'm either regressing or going nowhere. I'm thinking of readding Algin, which has helped in the past. But what the hell?
Where can I find good success stories? I'm doing all the stuff that's supposed to help. Vitamin B-complex. Vitamin C. Selenium. Magensium and zinc. I do the ALA schedule religiously, not missing a single 3-hour period.
5-HTP is said to cause the brain to produce more serotonin, which in turn is said to have an effect on chelation or mercury somehow. How? Is this making things worse?
Any help?
