Hi Thorns,
I agree with about 90% of this and it is quite beautiful and so well describes the heart of passion and intimacy i have for and with my Lord Jesus. I don't wake up every morning thinking how awesome the gifts are that the Lord has given me, but rather i wake up every morning with my heart connected to my Lord's in passionate love wanting only to be completely surrendered to Him, His will and His leading and wanting only to please and delight Him.
I also agree that we are not to be obsessed with the very real and wonderful gifts He has given us which help us to help others to love Him deeper, but that we ARE to be deeply thankful for them and to steward them faithfully as a blessing to those around us.
Thanks to the gifts the Lord has given us, gifts which i am so deeply thankful for, we can see testimonies like this one that i received today when we pray for people.
"hey Ed
Thank you again for what you did for me i felt nothing but happiness in the moment when you prayed for me. My knees are giving me no problems and i can breath clearly and my alleges are gone which normally doesn't happen for me without med. I will give them all a listen too and let you know how they are ok?. I thank you again for what you did and made me believe more :)
God bless you
E"
Most of the time this kind of feedback is in person, not in writing, but hers was a response to something i had sent her in email.
Her comment about giving them all a listen thus refers to the youtube video links i sent her including gospel of john, a worship playlist, testimonies and other teachings which glorify Lord Jesus, all of which i hope would help stir her passion for Him to deeper levels.
We mustn't despise the gifts our Lord has given us, but instead be blessed by them and use them to bless those around us and help them to know and love Him deeper. Being thankful for the gifts our Lord has given us only increases how much love we are showing Him. If a father gives a kid a train set, does the kid despise and ignore the train set to show his father how much he loves him? Some it seems would say yes, but i would say no. I am deeply thankful for the train set my father has given me and i want to enjoy it fully while loving Him passionately with all my heart, mind, soul and strength.
