It's been a few months since I last posted so I wanted to give an update. As can be seen from my message history, my battle with candida has been incredibly long (going on 9 years) and bumpy. My manifestation of candida (profound neurological symptoms, sedation, fatigue, personality and memory changes) is pretty unique on the forums, and easy fixes have not worked for me. But I know I can't be the only one with this form of chronic-fatigue-type candida so that's why I continue to share my journey. And yes I know it is candida due to my body's reaction to
Sugar deprivation and very specific antifungals (e.g. caprylic acid).
That said, I've gotten tantalizingly close to curing myself of this awful condition so there is hope. About a month ago I started my Prescript-Assist trial. It was going well but three weeks in, it completely wore off. I suspect the Bacteroides bacteria in the pills gradually died after I opened the bottle and exposed them to oxygen. The casing for the pills was a very thin plastic layer.
This was a huge disappointment, but I've moved on. Out of desperation, I re-examined Bifidobacterium probiotics. This is because the only other product that gave me a profound benefit was a Bifidobacterium product.
So today I took one pill of Trubiotics by One-a-day. It contains Bifidobacterium animalis BB-12. Nothing really special about this strain other than the fact that I had never tried it before.
Well, my body's reaction to that one pill was on a whole other level. It basically combined the beneficial effect of the Prescript Assist and the other helpful probiotic I had tried, X 2. It's also incredibly cheap ($12 for a month supply) and available at most stores, which is nice.
So my new trial of this probiotic officially begins today. Again, there are no quick fixes in my particular case but if this would cure me, I would be able to know within a few weeks to a couple months. I would likely be fully returned to normal within 6 months. That's the ideal situation I've been striving for with the probiotics I've tried.
I'll stay on this one for a couple months and let you guys know how it goes. It would give a lot of hope to others who struggle with chronic fatigue potentially caused by candida, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
