Hi everybody,
I'm hoping someone can encourage me.
In my yearly physical, my doc found that I was borderine hypothyroid. She suggested
Iodine supplements. I tried the test, where you paint an
inch of your skin with
Iodine and, if the next morning it has disappeared, you're deemed iodine-deficient. Well, I did it and it seemed I was, so, since I had a bottle of Iosol handy, I tried that for about 4 or 5 days: one drop in a glass of water per day. On the 4th day, I woke with a wierd, vertigo-like wave, which passed quickly. Buy on the 5th day, I was standing in line in the store, and was almost overcome with light-headedness! I had to hold onto the shopping cart to make sure I didn't faint! Needless to say, I didn't take anymore
Iodine drops. That night and for the next day, I could feel my heart beating strongly, and could feel mmy pulse in odd places. It's been four days since I stopped the Iosal, and I'm still a bit dizzy. Yesterday was really bad: on the drive to work, I experienced stabs of "panic" and gloom, and had heart palpitations! I stopped in a trusted healthfood store and the clerk there said that I had probably not needed so much iodine, and that my body had reached the saturation point. She said that iodine affects all parts of your system and that, with time, it would get out of my system. Ugh!! Anyone else had this experience with iodine? I had vertigo after taking days' worth of
Wormwood and this wasn't quite as bad but it is lasting a long time. Thanks, everyone!
