This is truly a tip-top cocktail that will make you feel suitably refreshed from the inside out and raring to go.
I highly recommend this one, especially if you've steered clear of juicing beets in the past (because they're rather pungent to say the least!). The addition of the sweet fruit and the sweet(ish) carrots make this one not just palatable but supremely delicious, and we've even managed to get a bit of green in there too!
But don't just take my word for it...
Makes exactly 1 litre (1.75 pints - enough for 4 average sized drinking glasses)
Juice the following:
* 1 beetroot (bulb only)
* 4 medium carrots
* 3 oranges
* 6 apples
* Small bunch of parsley
* 4 strawberries (these make all the difference)
RAW COACH'S TOP TIPS:
* After drinking, put on your favourite dance track and BOOGIE!
Dr. Christopher has always had his patients do the Three Day Cleansing program followed by the Mucusless Diet. The Three Day Cleanse gives the body the opportunity to rest and get rid of toxins that have been building up in the system over time. It is done by drinking 16 ounces of prune juice first thing in the morning and alternating 8oz of either apple, carrot or grape juice (make sure to use the same juice for the 3 days) and distilled water for the rest of the day. During this program you will also take 1 tablespoon of olive oil three times during the day. Alternate the juice and water every half hour until about 8:00 p.m. repeat for two more days and begin the Mucusless Diet. Complete instructions are contained in Herbal Home Health Care or the booklet The Three Day Cleansing Program.
Today I interview the father of juicing, Jay Kordich. Jay has a new book, new site and new juicer. Jay is one of the most vital people in the history of the health movement and it was an honor for me to speak with him. Check out his new site at http://www.juicedaddy.com/

Just to recap, smoothies contain more fiber, don't oxidize as fast, and allow for slower nutrient absorption.
Juices have less fiber, oxidize quicker and allow for quick absorption.
Now again, this doesn't mean that juices are bad, they just have their place.
We use them as we would a supplement. Drinking an organic vegetable juice is an opportunity to get great nutrients and minerals straight into your system.
Now let's move on to the next topics...
4. Available Nutrients
When you juice a veggie, you strip away all the fiber. This makes the nutrients extremely available for your system to absorb.
When you blend a veggie, you break down the fiber making the nutrients easier to absorb, but you still have a bunch of fiber that will slow absorption in your intestines.
Like I said yesterday, for sugary foods this is ideal. For greens it's good too, but not as good as a green juice.
When it comes to readily available nutrients, juices take the lead.
5. Ease of Making Them
Smoothies hands down on this. Put your ingredients into a blender and turn it on. Cleaning with a blender is simple too.
Rinse it out a bit, add some water and soap, then put it back on the base. Turn it on for a few seconds, then use a sponge to clean out what's left.
Juicers are harder to clean because they have more moving parts.
To get the best of both worlds, you can use your blender to make juices.
Add your juice ingredients to the blender, add some water, and blend. When you're done, strain everything through a nut milk bag and you have your juice ready to go.
When it comes to ease, it's not really the smoothie or the juice, it's the machine. I choose Vitamix all the way!
