I was too busy trying to keep a roof over my head to have children and now it's too late. That is why it always makes me so happy when I am invited to have a vicarious traditional family experience. Today was one of those days. I played marbles, hot wheels, and Leggos with Superman. I passed the three year old's ten minute inquisition of "what happened to him?" regarding the death of my grandfather. I colored a fighter plane blue in his coloring book, and built an OK Corral out of Lincoln Logs. When my precious compadre wanted to paste stickers on me instead of in his sticker book, I said "Yes!"~ Until he decided that he would like to stick them in two very strategic places on my chest!!! At that point I had to say no. Trying to do so without laughing, I explained that it probably wouldn't be considered polite to put them there and suggested we play something else instead. He respected the boundary and when it came time for me to go, he plastered himself against the front door in a position reminiscent of the mythical Christ nailed to the cross and said, "DON"T GO!" I thanked him for growing up, making the world a better place, and explained that I must. It was truly a day in heaven.
