Hi Guys, I have been on Lugals 5% 1 drop for 6 days. On the 2nd day I had really bad flu like symptoms my whole body just hurt, my head was like fog, and my sinus was clogged, I could barely get around, I did the salt flushes and was a heap better by the next day. The sinus issues stayed but have lessend but I am so hoarse!and it makes me cough, I can barely talk! Now as I think back I have always had issues with hoarseness if I talked too much, I never linked it to anything until I started researching iodine.I am going to up my dosage but its school hols here and I have a houseful of kids and I cant risk having a detox like the last one, those kids would show me no mercy!! So is this hoarseness from the thyroid reacting to the Iodine or maybe from the drainage of my sinus and will they both clear up?Advertisement

This is a reply to # 2,083,901I suggest you cut that drop down with a bottle of water and drink 1 ounce a day. Then 2 drops in a bottle of water & drink 1 ounce a day, etc.

1 drop of 5% Lugols is 6 mg a day, and that is just too much for a person loaded with toxins. You are being hammered with too much detox.

This is a reply to # 2,083,967I think you should titrate up very slowly. Yes wait a week or even a month. It is no fun suffering detox symptoms. You will reach the goal of 50mg a day sooner or later. Don't rush it.
I suggest Planning on 3 months or more if you feel detox symptoms,

About 7 years ago I started with 500 mg a day for 3 weeks and had no detox symptoms. My theory is the larger amount deluged whatever "toxins" I had. When I saw the color of my urine get all funky, I knew the junk was coming out, which was in agreement with what was published by one of the "iodine MD's"- Re: Ginagirl

Knowing what I know today, my choice would be to go straight above 100 mg, maybe as high as half a gram.- Re: Jay77

Hi Ginagirl and Vulcanel, I posted another thread. with my symptoms, fatigue, thinned out hair all over my body (happened when I was 19 now 36), get cold feet, have bad memory, my mom and sis have low thyroid but i apparently am in the norm according to docs. anycase, ive been toying with 1-2 drops and feel moody, get weird body jerks (when I sleep), my pee is often off colour, bit of Body odour. Is this normal, and would you just recommend I go up to 100 mgs or more? would I avoid symptoms by doing this, and how long do I keep this up?

This is a reply to # 2,084,027I did Iodine a full year before I found this forum. I had to find my own way of doing it, with a little help from some Iodine sites.
What route to choose; up to you. But, reading your symptoms; yes I would jump right up to 100 mg, or more.
Low thyroid, the docs tests doesnt work very well.
Just make sure you take the co facors like salt, magnesium, selenium etc.

My detox started at 60 mg of Lugols, stopped with a terrible flu; when I took 300 mg for 3 days. Then I was done.
Now; I am experimenting, pulsing. 2-3 times a week; 200mg, or something. I am no good at measuring; I spice for the day so to speak.
If I want some extra brain power, energy; I take half a gram. - Re: #68716

Interesting, sorry if it seems like i cut into your thread missfancypants. I think I'll try 100mgs soon. I have been using salt (maybe not the right one) and vit d, but no selenium or magnesium. I'll pick some up tomorrow. I'll try 100mgs, hopefully i wont get hammered with too many detox effect...:S

You know I was really saddened today, my aunty has just had her breast off through cancer, it was her follow up app today, She has the all clear which is good, but I asked the Dr about iodine, he had no idea, never heard of it, so I filled him in, he said he would look it up I hope and pray he does.
