Though I've visited this site several times over the past few years, I'm only registering and contributing my first post now.
I've tried oil pulling a few times since the beginning of this year. First, I started with olive oil and continued for over a month. Olive oil was quite unique in its effects compared to the other oils I tried. It left my mouth feeling "squeaky" clean, indeed to a degree that felt quite unnatural. At this point I hadn't tried other oils, so I assumed this feeling/effect was normal with all oils. Then, after a month of oil pulling with olive oil, I had a small piece of the first molar chip off two hours after oil pulling. This concerned me enough to stop oil pulling for a while.
A month or so later, I decided to try sesame oil. I tried it for about a week, then stopped until I could get good quality sesame oil. Just today, I started using organic extra virgin coconut oil from Trader Joe's.
Now, I have a two-part question for those who have experience with different oils or are well-versed in oil chemistry:
