So I keep getting comments on my site about people, I don't know if I should use the word "being upset" or what they are, that I changed my method...anyways I wrote a really long post on my site in the comments section about why, because obviously I didn't explain it well enough in my 1 year video.
But yeah, just wanted to let you all know things are still going really well, I did get some buildup in my inner lips this week, but I was honestly really crazy this weekend, so I am surprised I even have lips at all right now lol.
If you could take a glance at my new video I took yesterday that I just uploaded and let me know what you think about my lips, do you think they're healing, look better/worse, let me know. Thanks!

This is a reply to # 2,062,721Daniel I definitely think 120% you made the right choice by switching to the moisture method. Leaving them completely dry definitely isn't the fastest way to heal this, we don't even know if it would've worked but even if it did it would have taken a couple of years for the lips to fully heal that way(I think).
However, what I don't necessarily agree with is the steroid that you are using. Your lips definitely look "pinker" and super moist lol but it doesn't seem like they have any of the "normal lip lines" on them so it's really hard to tell whether your lips are in fact healing or if the steroid is just "masking" the condition by keeping the build up off. That's not to say that the steroid isn't working or won't work because maybe you just need more time with it but it just doesn't seem like it's really healing(in my opinion).
Ultimately it's up to you though, how do you feel about the steroid? Do you think it is helping and do you think it is in fact healing you instead of just hiding the condition?

Your lips look good on the video...but you are always moving so its hard to tell actually lol. They are very shiny from the product (is that aquaphor you are using?) but they look normal dude!!! so its amazing because you had the BIGGEST crusts of the forum only like few months ago....i cant believe that you have pretty much no build up at all now...........!!!
Do you apply your moisturizer all day at anytime? and do you have a white line of gunk forming?
But seriously you have a normal life...just with "shiny lips" i mean between that or live with huge nasty crusts...
I am just puzzled at how fast your lips stopped building up......what do you think is the reason?

This is a reply to # 2,062,721The fact that your lips haven't been building up is a HUGE breakthrough. I can't watch the video right now because I'm at an overnight shift at the hospital. But your clearly seeing fantastic results with your current method so definately keep at it. As far as lip lines etc go those should come in time.
And seriously f*** the people who are hating on you. Your one of the leaders, if not THE leader of the movement towards a collaborative community that will one day beat this god-awful curse. If it weren't for people like you, people would still be getting steroid creams, peeling the shit outta their lips and then complaining how steroids make it worse. Daniel what cream are you useing at moment? Also how have you been coming along with the white line that appears on the inner lips? I always find this starts towards the end of the afternoon!!! I hate it! It would be so awesome if you could take one picture a day of your lips at the same time and then upload them at the end of week so we can see the daily change! In regards to the lines in lips they will never return in my opinion unroll the lips have 100% loss all its inflammation.. anyways keep going one day bro one day!!!- Re: What do you guys think Healing2021

It doesnt even make sense that they would be mad about that. Its stupid. You heard about something that makes more sense and is more effective and you switched. And it has proven to be this for you too. So for people to be mad is stupid.

This is a reply to # 2,062,721Well I think it's wonderful if you can live your life as you please! At least with the lips you have now you can go out and meet and talk to people without being annoyed or feeling depressed (I'm just guessing here).
They LOOK better/more normal than before (when you used to leave them alone), so as long as you apply the moisturizer you can have a pretty normal social life, right? That alone seems like a great achievement to me.
But on the other hand I tend to agree with 'depressedlips' in that we still don't know whether the products you're using actually are repairing your lips. Aren't they 'just' impeaching the skin to even build up and form a normal coating layer? It seems like a legitimate question to ask.
As 'depressedlips' points out, your lips look too smooth to be normal, like yeah, they don't have any line, and that's exactly what i get as soon as i put some coconut oil on my lips (too irritating for me anyway): they appear to have no layer to protect them (wouldn't they be getting used to the product..?)

I disagree. I think its very clear that this is repairing our lips, and not just 'managing' the condition.
If our lips just needed a protective barrier over them to stop the peeling, then as soon as people started using these products, their lips would stop peeling right away. But thats not what happens. Their lips continue to build up, until eventually they stop. Which shows clear progress.
If this was just "covering up/managing" the condition then there would be no progression seen. As soon as somebody started the products, they would see instant results, not progression over time.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions but I dont understand how people cant see the difference. But hey, to each his own.- Re: What do you guys think longterm

This is a reply to # 2,062,911Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's not working! I just think that there is a chance the lips would get back to its pre-Aquaphor (i.e. leave alone period) state once you stopped applying it. I'm preoccupied by the fact that they look exactly like when I apply coconut oil: they look pretty normal but they actually aren't (especially the absence of lines). But I might be totally wrong.
But I don't want to be the pessimistic guy bashing hope at every corner, so... (I really am hopeful about the moisturizing thing)! I actually just ordered some jelly from the US to try it out (I'm not sure if I'll use it right away though)- Re: What do you guys think Evrythngfine

It's hard to have hope this is working because it is a slow, careful process. Members have shared what their doctors, who actually knew about the condition, told them to do and they have tamed the peeling cycles and gotten rid of EC. It seems that it takes a while to see progress but I believe this is the best method. I was moisture free for a day a couple weekends ago (out fishing) and I think my EC spread a little to the sides. I didn't freak out too bad because I know I'll get over this one day, not going to stop living. I have seen progress, grooves came back with in the past month. I was fretting I'd have raw macerated red lips forever. The skin layers have evened out a lot. It is working. I don't know about the bacteria or fungus component for myself yet. If I stopped using Aquaphor right now I also believe my lips would build up again. But not nearly as much as they used to. The entire point of this treatment is to get rid of the inflammation completely. And when we do, THEN the peeling will be gone completely.
So you are right in a sense, but the point is to do this until the inflammation is gone. Which can take a long time. Ask any dermatologist, it doesn't just apply to EC. if you have such severe inflammation for such an extended period of time, it is hard to get rid of it and can take a long time.
Which is why people in the past have failed doing something similar. They give up before the inflammation is completely gone. Or they constantly peel their lips while moisturizing, which just continues to feed the inflammation while they are trying to treat it.
People like Longterm try using a steroid for a week and stop. Then see that their lips continue to build up and they say it doesn't work, it's just a way to manage the condition. You can't have such severe inflammation for years and expect a week of steroid or a month of Aquaphor will completely eliminate it. I have had EC for less time than most on here. And I am in month 6.
It takes time. But good things come to those who are patient.- Re: What do you guys think JunP

Yes Healing2021, I see your point and I think it is a clever observation. I am just a little bit scared to apply something which I know my lips will become dependent on... I'll wait a few more months to see if my lips get any better in their left-alone state it has been in for a few months now (my candida-free diet is doing wonders!).
I know what you're gonna say: leaving them alone doesn't work. You might have a point (I try to question everything even my strongest beliefs). But isn't it also true that Daniel's lips DID improve substantially while on his leave alone 'treatment'?- Re: What do you guys think Vunk

This is a reply to # 2,063,312In fact when I wrote this post I wasn't even thinking about the real leaving alone method any more, but the simple comparison between moisturizer or not. In this sense, given that EC isn't a 'chronic' skin condition, I think it will heal anyway, without inflicting further trauma, of course.
