JunP,
If I stopped using Aquaphor right now I also believe my lips would build up again. But not nearly as much as they used to. The entire point of this treatment is to get rid of the inflammation completely. And when we do, THEN the peeling will be gone completely.
So you are right in a sense, but the point is to do this until the inflammation is gone. Which can take a long time. Ask any dermatologist, it doesn't just apply to EC. if you have such severe inflammation for such an extended period of time, it is hard to get rid of it and can take a long time.
Which is why people in the past have failed doing something similar. They give up before the inflammation is completely gone. Or they constantly peel their lips while moisturizing, which just continues to feed the inflammation while they are trying to treat it.
People like Longterm try using a steroid for a week and stop. Then see that their lips continue to build up and they say it doesn't work, it's just a way to manage the condition. You can't have such severe inflammation for years and expect a week of steroid or a month of Aquaphor will completely eliminate it. I have had EC for less time than most on here. And I am in month 6.
It takes time. But good things come to those who are patient.
