I found this interesting article showing that not only a selenium deficiency, but an iron deficiency and/or toxic chemicals have to be there in order for Hashi's to appear along side iodine supplementation.
Autoimmune thyroiditis, a.k.a, Hashimoto’s thyroidits, is characterized by infiltration of the thyroid gland by inflammatory cells and production of autoantibodies to thyroid-specific antigens, thyroglobulin and thyroperoxidase. Autoimmune thyroiditis accompanies and is considered a main cause of hypothyroidisim since it results in destruction and eventual fibrous replacement of thyroid follicle cells.57
Although excess iodine intake has been singled out as the cause of autoimmune thyroiditis, current research clearly shows that this condition is multifactorial in etiology. Deficiencies of other key nutrients, genetic susceptibility, and exposure to environmental pollutants are all contributing factors. Iodine repletion without at least one of these other factors, is insufficient to cause autoimmune thyroiditis.
It is well recognized that increased iodine intake results in increased iodination of thyroglobulin, which, since this process also results in increased production of H202, increases thyroglobulin’s antigenic potential. In addition, since H2O2 is one of the compounds known to stimulate the intracellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) promoter to increase transcription of the ICAM-1 gene, increased iodine intake (which can result in increased levels of unquenched H2O2) can also upregulate expression of ICAM-1. Iodine therefore has significant potential for harm; however, for this potential to be actualized, at least one or more of a number of other contributing factors must be present. These include selenium deficiency, iron deficiency, and/or exposure to environmental pollutants.58

As the research shows, it is not the iodine that makes hashi's worse, but the deficiencies that are underlying to the iodine deficiency.
The Hashi's is always there but could be doing other underlying damage to the body that we are not aware of until we find it by supplementing with iodine.
It is not iodine that causes the hashi's and you cannot live without iodine, so this is why the companions are ALWAYS recommended here, just in case.
I suspect it is the semi-dwarf wheat that has been genetically changed that may be the trigger to autoimmune diseases.
Iodine has been proven effective in Hashi's when taken with the companions.
There are many on the iodine yahoo group that are doing very well with iodine supplementation.
Everyone here has always pushed that iodine supplementation MUST have the companions, so your blind statement of this forum not warning you, is false.
I would never want to be forced on medications for the rest of my life because I was ignorant of the alternatives to saving my organs using natural supplements than having the deathcare cut out every organ that doesn't function right.
Iodine IS an Essential nutrient and we would die without it.
I don't think that website is finished, yet.
I think the site was referring to toxins, such as perchlorate, fluoride, bromide and any other man-made toxin.
The semi-dwarf wheat which is genetically changed seems like the first triggers just because of the higher incidences of AIT since iodized salt.
Have to check the research sources.
The human genome project proved that we don't inherit diseases from our parents.
We do eat at the same table.
A gene cannot take it's covering off and turn itself on all by itself.
It requires, a complex series of environmental perceptions to trigger the series of events necessary to remove the protein and turn the gene on.

I'm glad I am not a product of my parents diseases.
The medical community never seems to mention that children get a ton of vaccinations the moment they enter this world, so where is the link to diseases? The vaccines.
Dr Blaylock asked a pharma rep why they don't remove the stealth viruses in them and they said it is impossible.
Using an adjuvent to block immune response so DNA and RNA fragments from bioweaponized pathogens can go hide out in our cells and organs is why we get diseases.
Then, they put dental work in our mouths that further help diseases manifest.
Who would put the 2nd most toxic substance (on the planet next to plutonium) a couple inches from brain and call it health?
The real problem is that if our immune system is strong at the beginning when getting vaccinated, the stealth viruses hide out in our cells for many decades. The diseases that manifest can take many decades to appear.
People don't think about the vaccines when they get sick in their 40s.
Viruses don't eat food to survive.
However, children today are so immune compromised that the vaccines are causing diseases right away, such as autism.
If we never get vaccinated, our body's become resistant to the diseases as long as we keep our immune system up.
For ex, my brother has never gotten a cold sore and was married to a women who has genital herpes.
He has never had any symptoms of genital herpes and it is most likely due to the lack of a herpes virus in his formulation of vaccines. The rest of our family gets cold sores. He ended up with a different gift from big pharma, type 1 diabetes in his 30s.
I would like to see studies done showing disease occurance among the unvaccinated.
I think it is new because the sources are not linked, yet and I wasn't able to find part 1.
Thank you.
I had tried changing the url to one i, but it looks like a capital letter.
you're welcome
the link I've posted is on another website, but it seems to be legit
