I'm using only
Lugol's now, no iodoral or magnascent.
I hadn't taken any in a while and felt low so I must have used at least 3 full droppers of full strength in a good amount of lemon juice/water. It turned from purple back to light colored after some stirring.
1/2 hour later I was on the throne for what I thought would be a normal visit. I kept going and going and could not figure out where all of this was coming from. Successful experiment. Had a nice lift all day, no overstimulation.
Next day I woke up and tried to repeat the previous day's happenings.
I used quite a bit more this time perhaps upwards up 4 droppers in somewhat less lemon juice. It did not turn light colored this time, Very aggravating on the way down. Then very uncomfortable afterward, almost felt like puking but didn't. Terrible day all around, depressed, but not overstimulated.
So I've proven to myself beyong doubt that my early reactions to
Lugol's where I got overstimulated was in fact a detox reaction. If it did overstimulate the thyroid then I would have been bouncing off the walls on 4 droppers and not depressed - which was just too much detox for me to handle.
What's interesting is the vit c (lemon juice) which is converting
Iodine to iodide, or there more going on than this?
From now on I'm inclined to only take
Lugol's with enough vitamin c so that it turns light from the purple.
There was some talk about whether
Iodine had negative effects on flora. In my case I am suspecting that
Iodine actually does have a negative impact (at least on me) whereas
Iodide does not, since my flora did take a hit on that second day.
My body seems to want these massive doses every few weeks or months. The same thing happened to me with kelp where I'd crave huge doses but with long periods in between.
