We have celiac in my family and so I was Led to send some Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar with my daughter on her high school trip to Wash DC back in January. The kid never throws up and she literally spewed at the dinner table. Poor thing; how embarrassed she was!

Well, it turned out that she got that "vomiting virus" stomach flu going around. If memory serves correctly, I told her to put about 1 (or 2?) tablespoons' worth in one of the 6-8oz plastic cups in her room (filling the rest with water) and TREAT it like it was hot tea - IOW - just keep sipping it. I didn't want her to throw that up.

It helped her a great deal. She DID already throw up, previous to calling me, which made her feel better, but she still felt urpy and zipped the acv water.

When the medics came within the hour, they gave her two anti-nausea pills, which she threw up after they left. (Actually, she threw up while talking to me).

We thought it was probably for the best and she went back to the acv water. (We learned later that new medics for kids getting sick a little later were passing out only ONE anti-nausea pill per kid, so maybe my kid got an overdose).

She got better quicker than any of the other kids who got sick. She kept her eating on the "light" side for about two weeks after getting sick, but missed only ONE day of school, whereas some of the kids were out for an entire week. Truly, I let her stay home mainly because she was "worn out" - she admitted she felt well enough to GO, she just wanted to spend the day in bed...so I let her.

I learned years and years ago from my mother (when I was a kid) that acv has antibiotic and anti-viral properties to it. It kills strep, and is good for digestion, too.

The bottom line is that I have come to believe that acv with the "mother" in it (we use Bragg's) kills this particular stomach flue going around.

My two cents.

Update if anyone is interested. Woke up Wednesday, my stomach felt alot better but felt all wonky in the head (dizzy and spacey) and had the chills, my teeth were chattering, slight fever around 99.4, I stayed home and slept most of the day. Today I woke up and feel fine, no fever. Took the day off just to be sure. So far so good. Been taking a few doses of Sambucol since yesterday, forgot I had it, tastes good.

Edit: Took a nap today, woke up feeling a bit wonky. I guess it takes awhile to totally recover from a virus.
