I just completed a large cleanse to help heal my leaky gut. I've tried to eat a few foods that I have never had issues with today and am cramping and swelling. Could I have created new allergies by avoiding a food for too long and reintroducing it??
I think I read something somewhere that gave me that impression -- that food avoidance increases your body's sensitivity to that food once it's reintroduced -- but I can't say with any certainty. Hopefully your body will readjust in time.
By any chance have you tried colostrum? It allegedly helps with allergies, but I can't vouch for it since I've never tried it myself. I'm thinking of getting some.
After a deep digestive cleanse you probably have lost most of your good enzymes in your intestines. So try replenishing them. This many take a few days and during this period you should only eat light, easily digested food.
Does it help to take an enzyme supplement? Or does the body naturally produce sufficient enzymes in time if you take it easy on reintroducing the foods?
I always prefer not to shell out more money on supplements if I don't have to. But if it really is worthwhile, hey -- I wanna feel good! :)
