A throbbing pain in my upper right calf was one of my first symptoms before the rest of my health fell apart. It was in a fairly small area of my calf. Since removal, it's been better, but it does come back from time to time (I am over 3 years post-removal). I feared it was a blood clot for a long time. Nothing surprises me anymore with this Mirena stuff. Weird symptoms can come and go and pop for the first time MONTHS after removal. This has been my experience.
I don't even want to talk about RLS. It was an issue before removal, and has continued to plague me since. I do have entire months at a time when it disappears. Then it comes back for months as a time. It is horrible. I can give you more detail if you want to know more. I find relief at night by using a homeopathic remedy: Hyland's Restful Legs formula. It takes off the edge when it keeps me up at night. I keep it by my bed. There are nights when it can keep me up for hours. Not painful, but very uncomfortable and irritating. I hate RLS. Right now, I'm having a month where it's not an issue too much, thankfully. I have often been able to link it to ovulation and pms. Sometimes just getting past ovulation or starting my period is enough to knock it back down. Some months, it's a problem all month long. In my first 2 years after removal, it was the worst. I have read articles of it being a problem with hormones. Some women have it during pregnancy only. It can run in families. I had it off and on as a child. My kids have it occasionally, especially during puberty.
Hope that gives you some new info...
