It's not as simple as
Antibiotics or steroids.
I know people who have been on
Antibiotics for YEARS...drink alcohol, don't sleep, eat junk food...and don't deal with candida.
First off you have to be susceptible to it...that's the bottom line in my opinion...some people just will never get it...other people it doesn't take much to get it....other people are in the middle...they have experienced things that set them in a viscious cycle of events that perpetuate the illness..
That's what happened with me. When I was in elementary school I had
Amalgam fillings installed and also broke a mercury thermometer and slept on the bed filled with mercury for days ( I don't know if this contributed just laying it out there). Year by year I would slowly start to get a lot of anxiety...and skin issues. Then it turned into reactions to sugars and carbs...eventually I had muscle twitching and severe back aches...and HORRIBLE skin/ dandruff. Well this perpetuated the anxiety...and I started going to doctors...which ofcourse made me WORSE...I was on anbibiotics for a while...accutane for acne...proton pump inhibitors for "IBS" .... then I developed full blown leaky gut and food particles just went directly into my blood stream...setting off a crazy immune cascade and just damaging my adrenal glands. And this was before I even knew what candida was...once I found out I was already soo damaged and couldn't link the candida to anything...but over the years realized that it was just a cascade of events piling up on each other over years and years. When the medical community does not recognize this....come on how can you blame yourself...really. At that point it just comes down to whoever has stronger genes and or plain LUCK. For me I probably have weaker genes than most and also was very very UNLUCKY at the same time. And I was never able to devote my energy to my health because I was a full time pre-dental college student.
When you're at that state...it's very hard to recover and takes a lot of commitment. I did it, I got rid of all of the candida and healed my gut...but I totally damaged my adrenals in the process and now I can't even walk around the block.
It's all about doing the right things at the right time....chelating, detoxing, then healing leaky gut and killing candida with diet and antifungals/antiparasitics. And managing the load on the adrenal glands....resting in between intense detoxes.
