After some reassurance from my practitioner, as well as some here on the forum I decided to go ahead and take a vacation-something I hadn't done in two years and I'm so glad I did.
I was mainly worried about the fatigue as it's always with me to some extent but it can hit me out of the blue and really knock me down. And of course, the availability of food and being able to eat regularly and the right way.
The first couple of days were a little hard and I was tired as well as anxious and it was difficult to eat properly on the plane. We headed out to a four night cruise and after all the hustle and bustle of traveling there and standing in line for an hour or so and walking to the boat I was pretty exhausted but I just rested a lot in our room and felt better. If there is anyone thinking of going on vacation but worried about it I would definitely recommend a cruise. You are never more than a few minutes walk from your room and there was an abundance of good food to eat. There was plenty of vegetables to choose from at every meal as well as lean proteins, healthy soups, and of course fresh fruits for those able to tolerate them.
One of the best things was though, that it was a wonderful distraction from being sick. I was able to enjoy the ocean and the sunshine and get out of my head and out of my own little world. It was also a good reminder that I have made progress. I had booked a cruise for last year, but after I got sick we had to cancel. There was no way I could have done this a year ago. The fatigue and anxiety would have been too great.
So, thank you to all you who encouraged me to try! I'm so I glad I did!
