No, Im definitely not saying that he should manually take the crusts off. Thats the exact opposite of everything I have said.
Im saying that he should moisturize them with something that penetrates the crust, so that he is actually moisturizing. And this moisture will allow the crusts (which wont really be crusts anymore) to exfoliate naturally without trauma. Putting a cream on top of your crusts that doesnt moisturize the skin underneath is pointless. And this will allow the crusts to continue to form.
He, and many others on here, still seem believe for some reason that keeping the crusts on will allow the skin underneath to heal. When we now know that is just simply not the case. We now know that scabs are actually BAD for healing.
I say this because I once thought this to be the case. But after doing some research about wound healing I found that keeping it moist is good for cell growth and also because it causes the wound not to scab. And scabs are NOT GOOD for healing.
Im really just trying to help him and others on here. I just feel like we have now seen that keeping them dry and allowing them to scab doesnt work. I used to think this was the way because I used to think that scabs were good for healing. I thought the same thing that most still think on here. That the scab must form for the skin underneath to heal. But after thinking about it and doing some research I realized that it actually makes ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE at all. For SO MANY different reasons. There is literally not ONE way that it makes sense to do, over moist wound healing.
Not only does it go against conventional knowledge about wound healing. But we have clearly seen it doesnt work based on ALL of the people who have tried it and failed. That has been the single most tried "treatment" on this site. And only 1 person has healed from it! And it took 3-4 YEARS!
Im really not trying to insult Daniel or anyone trying to do it this way, because I tried to do it this way! Im just trying to help. I have the utmost respect for Daniel and just sincerely want to see him get better.
I am just a bit frustrated that people still think that allowing a scab to form somehow helps heal a wound. People say it "acts as a barrier" to keep it from the air outside. But the air is what caused the scab!
Im not pretending to KNOW how to cure EC. But for those people who are treating this as a wound, such as all those doing the "leave it alone method", I do KNOW scientific facts about the subject.
And all I can say is that I tried the "leave it alone method" for 3 months with barely any improvement. And Im in week 7 of my current treatment and my lips are 95% better. On a daily basis my lips look completely normal. I just still have inflammation that I am working on decreasing.
