Hi all,
I've read threads on here with conflicting info about selenium affecting mercury and introducing it more in the brain etc.
I'm not taking selenium or
Iodine daily - sometimes once a week due to past reactions.
I took selenium last night (to test it again) and about 2 hrs later got a severe 'behind the eyes' headache, eye sensitivity to light and screens etc, aswell as incredible molar toothache. It made me want to grind my teeth to relieve the tooth ache. (i have 4 amalgams)
I also then experienced insomnia, and woke-up this morning after 8 hrs sleep with the same eye sensitivity and tooth-ache.
I actually felt extremely agitated too which sent me into a low for most of the day, have had no focus or mind-motivation.
I'm trying to work out if this is a chelating reaction and sending mercury across the BB barrier, or is it a detoxing reaction of the selenium binding to the Hg ready for elimination...and the toothache indicating that the selenium is being deposited there?
Will this awful reaction go if i couple selenium with iodine?
I'm V low on selenium. Have 20% adrenal function, hypothyroid, hypoglycemic.
Was wanting to take selenium to help the thyroid.
Am supporting adrenals with some supplements...but am too weak to get the dental work done at the moment.
When i consume brazil nuts i don't get this reaction...interestingly.
Would love to hear from others and their reactions to selenium supps aswell as food sources.
I've read the studies but would rather hear of personal experiences.
