I think a good way to handle candida is to take a thorne product from iherb called sf722.. It has undecenoic acid it it. This will prevent and convert the fungus back to a yeast form. From there you can take the enzyme cellulase, which is found in many digestive supplements or you can use one called candidase from enzymedica. This has alot of cellulase in it.
The cellulase will break down the cell membrane of the yeast dumping the contents into your intestine. Possibly causing a severe herxheimer reaction depending on how bad your case is. If the herx reaction is too bad then taking an absorbant might help. Activated charcoal is a really strong one. I was told
Bentonite clay is good but due to the negative charge it may pull toxins out of the intestinal lining causing slight damage to the lining. So, I just decided to skip that one. I don't know if that is correct or not, or to what degree.
Also, biotin is what is produced from your healthy flora to combat lets say the unhealthy flora. So taking a little biotin might be a good idea too. I can't remember the particular anti candida diet. Just limited refined and complex sugars I think was the most important part. You don't want to feed the yeast.
I guess we always have candida in our intestines to a certain degree but when we take
Antibiotics we kill our healthy flora allowing the candida to grow freely.
The next thing is to try to repopulate your gut with healthy flora. I never had good luck with the expensive probiotics. You can learn to make raw sauerkraut on your own. That is a really cheap and easy way to get them. Another way is thru making your own milk kefir or water kefir.
If you suspect you have leaky gut syndrome, lots of fatigue, poor immune system you can take glutamine to help repair the enterocytes. Glutamine is the best thing to take to repair it. I was told to take sacchromyces boulardii as well because it acts like a scavenger inside the intestines. But this is a yeast cell and I didn't know if the cellulase would destroy it, so I didn't take it.
I'm not sure how long it would take to clear up all those things. The enterocytes replace themselves every three days. I don't think you would need to take glutamine for longer than 20 days or so. The dose recommended to me was 20 mg per day. I hope this gives you some ideas.
