Thanks, tygmusic, for your backup.
Today I called the number that the man left with my partner.
I asked the woman on the other end that I recalled that years ago the utility company simply sent residents a card to fill out, and meter readers weren't required, what's wrong with doing that again?
After some going round I found out that the person on the other end actually didn't work for the utility company. She told me that she worked for the company that was contracted with the utility to install the meters. And that was a question that I should ask the utility.
I asked her for that number. She said she didn't have one. And that they would just send me back to talk with her. After this, she was persistent about taking my resident information - which I refused.
I asked about the opt-out program? She said that at present there was no opt-out program, that it was in the 'works'. I smelled BS...
I contacted my land lady who also doesn't want it installed. I suggest that she go online and see the videos that I found that was available. One of which contained a news story about a resident in the city that I live having a house fire that they believe was caused by having this smart meter installed. And, then I suggested that she write and/or call the State Public Service Commission to file a complaint.
They need to know that there are many people that object. She agreed and will also tell the people she knows.
Got to resist this rising fascist corporate take-over. Every aware individual is needed to get involved with this.
Best regards - t
