Given that our little community is spread all over the world I think this condition is indeed more common that we think but also that it's completely hushed up among very trivial issues while it's different.

Do you know more about the possible triggers of their EC?

Honestly I will tend to believe that this is caused by trauma, then maybe an infection element settled in the damaged area preventing lips from healing.

Also, it's possible that the constantly friction of the lips because of chapstick has, as one goes along, excited the superficial layers, whence this slightly inflammation.

Maybe our vermillion is damaged and a light surgery is necessary to remove the disturbed superficial layers.

All of those searches are for "peeling lips". What we have is MUCH more than just peeling lips. Chapped/peeling lips is much more prevalent.

Sure I think that EC is more prevalent than just the people on this site, but I dont think its common by any means. If it was then there would most likely be a treatment, or at least more published medical literature about it.
