I'm on the fence about what birth control to use now that the mirena has been out. The day it was removed (1 month ago) I left the doctor's office with a nuvaring in, I used to use that in the past and didn't have problems. I took it out after 3 weeks and got a light period, but I wanted to consider other options because of the hormones. The doctor who removed it suggested a diaphram (pretty old school and inconvenient). I figured I try it though because I wanted to just let my body normalize. I went to get fitted for a diaphram yesterday and a different doctor in the same practice recommended against it, said that it wasn't very reliable, so that is definitely out.
He suggested low-dose hormonal birth control pills. He also talked about the benefits for someone my age(47 years old). He didn't like the nuvaring because he said the levels of hormones are higher. I'm just so hesitant to screw my hormones up anymore than they already are. I so wish my husband would get snipped, but there is no way. Any thoughts? Thanks!
