Hi, Jiffer
We seem to have some things in common. I didn't put two and two together until recently between sinus congestion and candida. What put me down was 9 years ago when my ileum swelled and closed off: since then it's been numerous drs/specialists/scopes/mis-dx's/treatments/rx's/etc...a LONG journey to just discover candida, let alone just beginning to unravel the underlying factors which allow candida to clean up the mess.
There's no question my adrenals are shot as well as potential hypothyroid. Due to lack of funds from begin out of work for so long fighting this battle little tests have been run to firmly establish levels but, all the signs are there my endocrine systems are in need of help. Low body temps, night sweats, thinning skin, etc...numerous symptoms establishing this is a part of my healing journey.
Interesting your ND said to work on candida first and then worry about adrenals. I've been thinking a more proper path would be the opposite.
Point being, these systems have so much control over metabolism we could adhere to a candida protocol yet, still have lousy metabolism which would continue to feed candida through food fermenting in our guts making it all that much harder to address.?? In that case, wouldn't it be wise to address the adrenal/thyroid issues first and then worry about candida?
Thank you for the detail on your adrenal support supplements, since I suspect my Dr will be lack in prescribing any rxs. Some I use current but, just starting to undertake learning about natural programs. Your list is very valuable at this juncture.
One thing I notice was your use of psyllium which tends to wipe everything out, including the good bacteria you are trying to populate. In addition, it is my understanding it can cause intestinal bleeding as well. You'd do better using a soluble fiber supplement or increasing your soluble fiber from veggies. I'm a hypocrite though, since I'm at such a weakened state the constant shopping/food prep/cooking/cleaning isn't at a point of being able to sustain a high veggies diet presently.
Yes, Jordan Rubin's story is widely known and is quite amazing. We all should be so lucky to have the resources to spend like he did to get well: sadly that isn't the case. There's a part of me which thinks he's over rated since he's more about making money these days: with all his business interests how does he find time to write anything these days? He also propagates misinformation. For instance: PRIMAL DEFENSE is NOT the product nor formula which he personally used to recover. Though, originall it was but, the other company sued him after which GOL was forced to change their formula.
This is the actual product Jordan used in HIS recovery BODY_BIOTICS which makes much of what Jordan's image is a little suspect. Not that there isn't a good deal to be said about GOL products, they seem to be good ones. From what you write, his program isn't that far off from alternative diets/treatment protocols - assume the soup you are talking about is bone broth which is proven to help greatly. Sorry for being down on Jordan since he seems to make sense to you but, he's far from the only web guru around whose making a fortune off people's suffering.
I'd be interested in an update to see where you are at presently and what you are currently using........especially interested in your adrenal healling/supplements....
Many blessings.
