If our gut has hundreds of strains of flora than wouldn't a fermented food that has much more strains of good flora be more beneficial than a probiotic that has only 1-14 strains of bacteria?
Then of course you have the question of how much of the strains of the fermented food is going to survive stomach acid and actually colonize.
Another good question to ask is if someone is taking a probiotic that only has a few strains in it for a long period of time are those few strains going to cause an imbalance of the flora/or interfere with the body trying to keep the proper balance of flora(hundreds of strains) in the gut?
If the gut has hundreds of strains of flora than how can a supplement which only has 1-14 strains provide the proper balance of strains in the gut?
Are fermented foods a better choice than a probiotic supplement?
