If you have high PTH as well, then you have hyperparathyroid tumour. The ultrasound may not show it as it didn't mine. However get a specialist and have it removed you'll be as good as gold and the operation is sympol in the hands of a specialist. Mine was over an inch long.

I agree. Ultrasounds, even the sestamibi scans will usually NOT show a parathyroid tumor... the sestamibi scan is often done incorrectly according to reading I've done. Honestly if you have a huge lump in your neck and your doctor says your blood work is off, why aren't they bringing up the possibility of you have hyperparathyroidism?

Endocrinologists are often not used to dealing with cases like this so many will be ignorant about it and write it off as something else. DO NOT GIVE UP! I was in the same boat as you where I was told I had Arthritis or fibro but I knew I was right... now new labs have shown results that I really might have this disease too. Lab work is key in getting diagnosed. NOT scans. Good luck with everything.

this is how I first was lead to find out about this having had I forgot now like 24 symptoms of 26 for over 15 years after I had radiation for cancer that had to be more than normal and that they said could damage glands in my neck.

I had forgotten that and never connected the symptoms as some were disease and they did not seem to be connected till I learned of parathyroid tumor and saw all the symptoms..when I did, I knew I had the answer but noone is taking me serious either.

I tried being proactive in finding my own doctors etc but they put it all on the sestamibi which they said was ok.

this is exactly what happened to me.

I noticed a lump in the throat that felt like stuck food. At one point I started choking. The lump was right where the parathyroid was located.

Same here. I was shocked as I have never had heartburn or any sign much at all of reflux..I was then informed there was silent reflux which caused coughing and that did ring through but I was afraid to take meds as I heard that can make it worst as some feels we have too little not too much acid especially since I have a lot of undigested food in my stool.

I tried for months with doctors but got nowhere. My calcium is one or two points too low so they insist I dont have it ignoring everything I say. I was stunned my calcium was at the high nd as always thought I was low in vitamin d as up all night and never get any sunshine and have not drank milk in 30 years and never take supplements. I was right on that,I was not only insufficient but deficient having like a 3 (supposed to be at least a 40) so was right on that.

I also figured I would be low in calcium as no milk in 30 plus years and I am a vegan so no cheese either, I never take calcium supplements.

Yet somehow I am not only normal in it but a point or so above normal. How can that be? The parathyroid tumor? I think so but noone cares my life is ruined with all these symptoms. In fact, they either wanted me to take a lot of calcium supplements.

I asked my endocrinologist why did family doctor put me on calcium when I according to your tests are not only ok but a tad too high. She told me not to take it.

Some mentioned sever pain in back, hips and leg and that is me. I did not connect this with a possible parathyroid tumor but car wrecks. Now not so sure.

It is a horrible thing as it affects so many parts of one's body..to know it can all go away with surgery but noone will give it and cant afford the Florida guy at all is hard. sorry you have it when so young.

I just posted a thing on dissolving tumors...I was thinking it they wont maybe I could after all, people get cancer cut out but other dissolve it naturally so why not this. Maybe worth a shot.
