Hi,
My son has Perioral Dermatitis and has had this for approx 2 years. Unbeknowns to me this was caused by the steroid cream a doctor had prescibed for eczema on his ears.
When he developed red bumps aroung the edges of his nose we continued to use the steroid cream. It would clear the PD but as soon as he stopped using it, it would come back and each time it became worse.
In the end it no longer worked. His face was a mess. It had even spread to underneath his eyes, on his chim and part of the forehead. I took him to a second doctor who told me to stop all steroid cream and start Doxylin 50
Antibiotics .
His face was such a mess. It was bright red, bumpy and flaky. About 5 days after the steroid cream was stopped his face had never been worse. At 14 you can imagine how paranoid he was about going to school. I was warned about this by the doctor.
I was told not to put anything on it, just water. However the redness and dried out skin was painful and so sore that he could hardly smile without pain.
Anyway....I then lathered his face at night with Lucas Paw Paw ointment. This is an ointment made here in Australia and it only costs $4.00 a tube.
Overnight the redness reduced significantly and some of the bumps disappeared. It is greasy so you cant put it on during the day unless you want to go out with a greasy face. It is almost like vaseline or petroleum jelly in consistency. Not quite as thick though..
This is a cream that almost everyone I know in Australia uses for any type o skin problem and has it on their home. It is fantastic and I would not live without it.
You can buy online or on ebay, I have seen it on there. Anyway give it a go. I swear buy it.
My sons face was almost totally cleared by day 4 and I know it was not due to the
Antibiotics as they take about 2 weeks to get into the system. His case was a severe one so if yours is not you may find it will work faster.
Anyway good luck. I hope you give it a go, I promise you it will be a permanent fixture in your medicine cabinet..
Good luck
