Regardless of the reason for your back pain I think it is important to look at the things you can control the pain or at least make it more bearable. First replace your bed if it is old. I found having a new bed and a proper supporting pillow made a HUGE difference in the quality of sleep I was getting. Secondly, I highly recommend using a body pillow. This provides lower back support and really made a difference for my pain as well. Thirdly I would recommend walking and stretching as much as possible.
