I have spoke with Dr. M Crandall re candida ...has anyone had any luck with her advice???
ANyone have the shots??? Did they help.
Did it help the vulvodynia....???
DID die off make your vaginal symptoms worse???
I am currently trying long term antifungal therapy (just 6 weeks), and have been on a strict diet for months....
I just want to walk again......

This is a reply to # 1,878,3696 weeks isn't a long term therapy.
I believe you could have chronic intracellular candidiasis. This is a residual infection that penetrate deep in the tissues and cause redness, burning, and inflammation. This infection isn't totally active but is the result of candida penetrating the cells after a drop in cell-mediated immunity. It is a hard to treat chronic infection that require systemic antifungal drugs. Since most (if not all) current systemic oral antifungals are fungistatic, you should try a drug combination such as Terbinafine/Itraconazole. This combination is synergistic and have been tested effective against resistant candidiasis. Consult it with your Dr or even Dr. Crandall. She is well aware of it. I believe you should follow Dr. Crandall. Allergic shots are important if you test positive against candida antigen (skin test) Most women with chronic vulvodinia what really have is this chronic atrophy candidiasis. You are in good hands with Dr. Crandall. I believe nobody knows better than her what is affecting you.

I was hoping you would chime in...I have seen some of your threads....I also believe this is my problem. I will suggest the combo therapy with my Doc. Did you test positive for allergies..do you know anyone that had the shots? You seem very well educated on this topic, thank you for your response.

I am just worried that since my symptoms have flared, and I now have a worse rash and red bumps on my outter labia that things are just not working. I suppose I need to be patient.
How long can die off last???? I am sure it is different in all cases...and please tell me that the worsening of symptoms and also my increased facial rashes are a good sign...lol!!! Have others experienced this as true die off????

This is a reply to # 1,878,427Fungus react to antifungals. It means that you will feel more symptoms such as burning, redness,etc when the fungus is dying . It is a classic symptom when the antifungal is working. You feel the battle between the poison and the victim. I get allergic shots for candida every week. I was a positive for candida allergy . The shots stimulate your immune system and also help to decrease sensitivity to the antigen. They are important if you are allergic to candida. Ask Dr. Crandall about the Terbinafine/Itraconazole combination.( You can tell her I mentioned it to you) One thing, you need to check your liver every month when doing this treatment. I can not say 100% sure this is your case but according to what you describe, it looks like. I know the condition is real and know about many women having this problem.

I also feel better knowing perhaps this HORRIBLE FLARE of burning hell is a good thing...it is hard to feel better if everything gets worse, and for weeks...I get worried it is not working...
As for the shots, you are the first person I have found that has actually had them. May I ask, do you think it is helping you? Crandall was lovely to talk with and did advise me to be tested. She seems to have a very good theory.
Have you found others here that have followed DR. Crandall's protocol? Did it help their candida?
PS, thanks, I am doing the liver testing each month...:)
I just saw my GP today, and he believes I am nuts to do this protocol since my "swabs" show no yeast........and does not believe in the so called "candida syndrome", but repects it is my choice...
I think it will be worth it if it works.....Right now I am 43 and disabled because of this hell rash that will not leave.....all those years of repeat yeast infections and antibotics...grrrrrrrrrrrrr
More time will be needed......just wish I could sit and type...lol

This is a reply to # 1,878,665Shots are probably helping but I have been on them for less than 1 year. You need more than 2 years to see a real difference. I have done so many things that is hard for me to figure out what help most. I wish you luck.

This is a reply to # 1,878,665I believe In dr. crandells theory Too. What i am learning is that yeast does not always show up in these tests. so you may have it. Go with your instincts. Dont listen to the doc that thinks your nuts. But the burning, mine never left. The burning doesnt always mean die off. It means something is wrong. yeasty beasty! Nightmare! cindy
