Hi,
I'm 24 years old and had the Mirena inserted 2 1/2 years ago. A year later I started experiencing excessive hair loss (still ongoing!), I ask my gyno if the mirena could be the cause of my hair loss and he said it's not likely. After reading all these forums on how mirena ruined so many peoples lives, I'm left wondering can this be the reason to my hair loss? I've had my thyroid check and blood work and all is ok. So this is what I'm left with. I'm desperate to find a diagnosis for my hair loss, I'm too young to be experiencing this!
Please if there is anyone with information regarding this can you please share it with me.
And most of all are there any success stories of hair getting better after having the mirena removed.

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,876,354My 22 year old daughter has had the Mirena for over two years, and in the last several months she has had excessive hair loss, among many other devestating symptoms. She had it taken out Friday. Her hair loss has become so bad it literally comes out in clumps and she has lost so much. It is still falling out. I would really consider having it removed. It has ruined my daughters health, and all other causes have been ruled out. Plus reading all these other posts from women with 'mirror' symptoms, it solidifies that Mirena is not always a safe/healthy option for everyone. Hang in there and keep us updated - heather

It's called alopecia and it is a listed side effect in the physicians insert (not the one they give you) Tell you gyno maybe she ought to read that bothersome literature :(
I had it both with big bald patches and major shedding. There is a hair loss forum that talks a lot about the mirena. Happy to say i had one more spot appear at 4 months post removal, a good bit of shedding last year, but nothing since. - Re: Can the Mirena cause hair loss? locedoutladie36

This is a reply to # 1,876,374I had no hair loss with mine i had it for almost 5 years and got it removed friday also when all the sudden I started to have really bad anxiety and had a panic attack. I still have the anxiety since its been removed 6 days ago... hoping it will go away soon!! Hope her health gets better also!

This is a reply to # 1,876,354I am 5 months post and list half of my hair with a lit of shedding. Do u have an itchy or burning scalp too? I tried to dye my hair and it couldn't withstand it. A lit more broke off! I need help. My hair was once beautiful and Long.
