Hi, yes, I did try the neti pot, and still use it. And years ago it did clear my sinuses up much as well, to the point where I thought they were almost cured, but never quite fully cured. I've never used the dead
Sea Salt s though, just used regular salts, mostly from packets that you buy at CVS (more convenient).
But now the normal saline solution doesn't seem to resolve the issue. So I've read lots about hypertonic solutions to use, and it seems to do more--seems to dry up the area.
My sinuses are confusing at times. Years ago they were much worse. Then I began washing them regularly, and it made a huge difference. I could tell when I was around an allergen. As time went on, I got even better.
But then about 2009, I caught mono and swine flu supposedly, at the same time. After that, my sinuses just didn't seem the same, even with nasal wash. I had some bad sinus drainage, and I believe that may have led to recurring bronchitis. So I did more nasal wash, including hypertonic, and it seemed to clear out lots of stuff. I could breathe through my nose, but there was this constant clear mucus coming out of my nose and I would blow it all the time during the day. I thought that meant I was better--my nose wasn't stuffed all the time--but when I do hypertonic solution I get all sorts of stuff out and I feel pressure and such in the sinuses directly above my top teeth, as though there is still something there.
So now I'm trying to be more agressive with the hypertonic nasal wash (isotonic didn't seem to help as much in regard to swelling), with hydrogen peroxide and baby shampoo.
I think that for many things, regular nasal wash can help lots. But for others, maybe mold or fungus, you need something more to get rid of it all completely. Or at least I do at this point in my life--I think.
So I may buy the special neti pot salts at the store, anyone notice any better benefits from them? Dead
Sea Salt s have lots of beneficial minerals in them.
