The top 10 worst foods for someone suffering from candida, in order according to my opinion.
1. Alcohol (okay not really a food but terrible for candida)
2.
Sugar and all foods containing sugar
3. White flour or any products made from white flour
4. Very starchy foods (potatoes, pasta, leavened bread)
5. All types of vinegar and pickled products made with vinegar except apple cider vinegar
6. Beef and pork
7. Processed foods
8. Fried foods
9. Coffee/tea
10. Hot spices, such as cayenne pepper, chilies (fresh or dried), black pepper, etc.
A short explanation on some of these.
Alcohol I put first, even above
Sugar because I really believe it is one of the most harmful things you can put into your body. Yes there's a lot of talk about the benefits or red wine, maybe for some people, but definitely not for candida sufferers.
Sugar, white flour, starchy foods, no need to comment, we know the problem with these.
Vinegar is extremely acidifying to the body.
Beef and pork in my opinion are some of the worst food that you can eat and although they don't cause candida in a direct manner, i.e. they don't give immediate flare ups, they create a toxic and acidic environment in the body that is conducive to the growth of candida.
Processed foods and fried foods I think no need to comment on.
Of course coffee is much more acidifying then tea, but both should really be avoided.
It took me a long time to figure out that hot spices were harmful for candida. I was getting a lot of conflicting ideas and you always here people say that these are good for digestion. What I eventually realized is that usually when people say good for digestion, they really mean it increases stomach acidity. And when you are already acidic, that is the last thing that you want.
